The Highlight
In this course, you will be on the trail for a short period of three days, experiencing a variety of landscapes. Along the way, you will be able to experience the beauty of the local landscape in each of the four seasons. The course is not only about the scenery, but also about interacting with the local people and tasting local products through meals.
The Experience
Course Difficulty ★★★☆☆ Day 1 Hiking Distance: about 8.6km Total Incline 390m Decent 245m Hiking time: about 3.5hrs Trail type: on road/paved pathways.
- Meet at Miyako Station and transfer to Fudai. Today we will hike from Fudai station, through the local town area, before enjoying the beautiful blue ocean trail near Nedarihama beach, with a final ascent into the accommodation for tonight. At dinner time, enjoy a performance of the Unotori Kagura dance. Stay overnight in Fudai area. Day 2 Hiking Distance: about 6.5㎞ Total Incline 556m Decent 647m Hiking time: about 5hrs Trail type: unpaved trail with stairs and some paved areas.
- Depart hotel. Today we will hike the most challenging section of the Michinoku Coastal trail, from the Kitayamazaki cliffs to the Aketo area. After this, we will transfer to the Taro area of Miyako city and relax at a luxury onsen hotel. Stay overnight in Taro-an area.
Day 3 Hiking Distance: about 5.5㎞ Total Incline 190m Decent 190m Hiking time: about 3hrs Trail type: mix of unpaved trail sections and some paved pathways
- Depart hotel. Today we will hike around the Taro area and learn about the destruction and reconstruction that has happened in this area since the tsunami in
2011. Finish at Miyako station at around 14:00pm

Day 1

- 10:20Meet at Miyako Station and transfer to Fudai.
