Genko-an Temple, established during the Edo period, is surrounded by maple trees, including those near the main hall and the Tsuru-Kame Garden behind it.
The temple is famous for its two iconic windows: the round “Window of Enlightenment” and the square “Window of Delusion.” They are said to represent Buddhist teachings and encourage visitors to reflect on themselves. The autumn foliage viewed through these windows is especially popular.
Typical peak autumn foliage: Mid to late November.
Jisso-in Temple – Discover the beautiful “Floor Reflections of Autumn Leaves.”
The polished floorboards in the Waterfall Room reflect the beauty of each season, creating a different view throughout the year. During autumn, enjoy the stunning “Floor Autumn Leaves,” with vibrant red foliage reflected on the polished floor.
Photography is prohibited throughout the interior, including the floor autumn leaves. The tour will operate regardless of the peak autumn foliage period. Typical viewing season: early November to early December.
