Pocketalk for Tours

Pocketalk for Tours is an innovative real-time translation service designed to enhance communication during guided tours. It ensures that international guests can fully understand Japanese explanations in their native language.

  • How It Works

The guide wears a headset and opens "Pocketalk for Tours" on their smartphone via a browser (no app installation required).

A QR code is generated and shared with participants. Guests simply scan the QR code with their own smartphones to access real-time translations of the guide’s explanations in text and audio formats.

  • Ease of Use

No additional devices are needed for participants, just their own smartphones.

If you wish to listen to the translation instead of reading it, please bring your own earphones for the audio function.

The service supports up to 75 languages, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of international travelers.

Rich and creamy! Enjoy Saga’s famous Takezaki oysters

  • With its catchphrase “Sweet! Big! Doesn’t shrink!”, Takezaki oysters are known for their large size, rich flavor, and natural sweetness. Even when grilled, they hardly shrink.

Visit one of Japan’s Three Great Inari Shrines: Yūtoku Inari Shrine & shop along the temple town street

  • Yūtoku Inari Shrine, which welcomes around three million visitors each year, is counted among Japan’s Three Great Inari Shrines, along with Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto and Kasama Inari Shrine in Ibaraki.
  • Along the approach leading to the shrine, you’ll find a charming shopping street where you can purchase local specialties such as Inari Yokan and Yūtoku Senbei, perfect as regional souvenirs.

Sake tasting and a guided stroll through the historic streets of Hizen Hamajuku

  • With guidance from a Hizenhama townscape guide, you’ll explore Sakagura-dōri (Sake Brewery Street) and visit local breweries that proudly produce Kashima’s renowned sake, discovering the many charms of the area.
  • And here’s a unique highlight Japan’s first sake bar directly connected to a train platform!: At the sake station “Hizenhama Station HAMABAR”, enjoy a tasting of three local sake varieties. Savor a flight of three selected Kashima sake along with cream cheese marinated in sake lees.

For guests who do not drink alcohol, sweet amazake, soft drinks, and sweets are also available.

Stop by the mystical “Underwater Torii Gate” floating in the Ariake Sea

  • The underwater torii gate of Ouo Shrine dates back about 300 years.
  • According to legend, a corrupt local official was once abandoned on Okinoshima Island (Tara Town), which becomes submerged at high tide, as punishment for his misdeeds. Just then, a giant fish called Namiuo appeared and rescued him.
  • Deeply repentant after this miracle, the official built Ouo Shrine and its torii gate standing in the sea.
  • Even today, many people visit the gate to pray for plentiful catches and safety at sea, and it continues to be cherished by the local community. The scenery changes dramatically with the tides, and its mystical atmosphere—where you can feel the pull of the moon—has made it a popular and much-talked-about sightseeing spot.

Stop at Michi-no-Eki Kashima, & receive one complimentary JA Beverage Saga juice

  • At Michi-no-Eki Kashima, you can enjoy the Tidal Flat Observatory, offering a sweeping panoramic view of the Ariake Sea, as well as Senja Market, a lively shop filled with a wide variety of local products.
  • Senja Market features plenty of freshly harvested seasonal vegetables grown with the blessings of nature, along with delicious seafood from the Ariake Sea. This handmade market prides itself on its commitment to safety, freshness, and affordable prices.
  • Here, you can shop for Kashima’s specialty products, and each guest will receive one bottle of JA Beverage Saga’s “Mikan no Kimochi” mandarin juice as a complimentary gift.♪

If “Mikan no Kimochi” is out of stock, it will be replaced with “Mikan & Pineapple Juice.” Thank you for your understanding.
