The Experience
The Glove Gallery is located in Higashikagawa City, Japan’s leading glove-producing region, which accounts for over 90% of Japan’s domestic glove production.
As part of the 2025 Setouchi Triennale, two artworks, “Everyone’s Hands: Let’s Knit Gloves That Reach the Moon!” and “The Story of Glove-kun,” were created and exhibited here.
Please note that the shop inside the Glove Gallery may be closed.
Sanuki Izutsuya is a historic merchant house that was once involved in soy sauce and sake production since the Edo period and has been renovated into a tourist attraction.
The buildings date from the late Edo to Meiji periods and retain their traditional charm. Explore the former residence, including its traditional tatami rooms and garden, then browse local specialties at shops housed in the old storehouses.
At Otsuka Museum of Art, admire around 1,000 life-size reproductions of masterpieces from approximately 26 countries, recreated using advanced ceramic panel technology. The collection spans from ancient murals to modern paintings.
The museum also features 11 works by Vermeer, whose surviving works number only around 30 worldwide.
Lunch is not included in the tour. Please enjoy lunch at your leisure at one of the cafes inside the museum.
