Omiwa Shrine Believed to be the oldest Shinto shrine in Japan, Omiwa Jinja holds a unique tradition: it has no main hall because the deity worshipped here is Mt. Miwa itself. Since ancient times, this sacred mountain has been revered as a dwelling place of the gods.
