Matsumoto Castle
Matsumoto Castle is one of Japan's premier historic sites, designated as a National Treasure. Known as the 【Crow Castle】 for its striking black wooden exterior, it features Japan's oldest surviving five-tier, six-story keep. Visitors can explore its authentic wooden interior and enjoy magnificent views of the Japanese Alps. ※Admission tickets are included in the tour price. If you do not wish to enter on the day, please inform your guide. (Please note that no refunds will be provided.)
Yohashira Shrine
Located in the heart of Matsumoto, Yohashira Shrine is a cherished spiritual power spot! It uniquely enshrines four Shinto deities, earning it a reputation as a sacred site where <All Wishes Come True> Surrounded by serene nature, it is especially famous for good fortune, matchmaking, and peaceful strolls.
Nawate Street & Nakamachi Shopping Street
These two historic streets showcase the rich charm of old Matsumoto. Nawate Street is a frog-themed pedestrian path lined with retro souvenir shops and street food. Just across the river, Nakamachi Shopping Street features beautifully preserved white-and-black earthen storehouses (kura), offering local crafts, cozy cafes, and traditional goods!
Ishii Miso Brewery
Founded in 1868, Ishii Miso is a historic brewery dedicated to traditional natural fermentation using massive cedar barrels. Visitors can take guided tours to learn about authentic miso making without modern additives. The site also features a restaurant serving rich miso soup and unique local specialties like miso ice cream.
Former Kaichi School
Built in 1876, the Former Kaichi School is one of Japan's oldest primary schools. Designated as a National Treasure, it represents GI-YOFU (pseudo-Western) architecture, blending traditional Japanese carpentry with Western design elements. Inside, fascinating exhibits display historical educational materials and vintage classrooms from the Meiji era.
