It is said that when the grandson of the sun goddess descended from heaven, Amaterasu Omikami threw down a celestial spear (sakahoko) from the sky. Where it pierced the ground, water gushed forth, forming this majestic waterfall. The unique terrain, formed by cooled pyroclastic flow from Mount Aso's eruption, features water cascading from a height of 55 meters, resembling a mystical ribbon connecting the celestial and earthly realms. The mist rising from the basin, intertwining with the surrounding greenery, creates an ethereal landscape that seems to blur the lines between reality and fantasy.
