Karatsu castle Karatsu Castle was completed by Terasawa Hirotaka, a vassal of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, over a seven-year period starting in 1602 (Keichō 7). It is said that materials from the abandoned Nagoya Castle were used in its construction. The castle is also known as "Maizuru Castle" (Dancing Crane Castle) because the sandy beaches and pine groves surrounding the castle resemble a crane with its wings spread.
Okawachiyama, the Village of Secret Kilns in Imarii The reason Imari Okawachi was chosen as a suitable location to protect the techniques was due to its geographical features. Highly skilled potters were gathered here, and a checkpoint was established to prevent their techniques from leaking to outsiders. The area was surrounded on three sides by steep mountains, and a checkpoint was placed at the entrance, making it an ideal place to safeguard the technical knowledge.
