Customized experience museum for the entire town Zentsuji City in Kagawa Prefecture is the birthplace of Kobo Daishi Kukai, a great figure in Japanese Buddhism known to all Japanese people. Born 1,250 years ago, Kukai achieved enlightenment by training in the magnificent natural surroundings of his hometown of Shikoku. Even now, more than 1,200 years after his time, many worshipers who admire Kukai come from all over the world to follow the pilgrimage path he left behind. At five temples related to Kukai in Zentsuji City, you can experience content that allows you to face yourself and hone your five senses, with the themes of Mandara Temple - tactile sense, Shusshaka Temple - visual sense, Koyama Temple - auditory sense, Zentsuji Temple - taste, and Konzo Temple - olfactory sense.

Shusshakaji Temple offers a hands-on program where you can learn Kanamoji'' calligraphy from the chief priest. "Kanamonji" are characters unique to Japan that are based on kanji, and when used in calligraphy, their flowing, smooth strokes and soft curves give a sense of elegance.

The calligraphy experience will be held in a guest hall that is not open to the public. You can practice while looking at a model, and the chief priest will give you careful advice on how to write beautifully. After deepening their understanding of kana characters through practice, they write songs on washi paper. Finally, sign in Japanese, affix your name stamp, and you're done. Custom-made name stamps can be taken home as souvenirs.
