History of "Kotobuki-kai" Shinchi Nijo opened a teahouse in east of the Nijo River under the name of Kamishichiken in 1734. Unfortunately, it was abolished in 1887. At that time, teahouses displayed the characters "寿" (Kotobuki), "栄" (Sakae), "東" (Higashi), and "泉" (Izumi) on their noren (shop curtains) during the day and on their lanterns at night as a mark to indicate they were officially licensed teahouses. After the war, the Onshukai (a traditional performing arts event) was quickly revived. In order to make it a study group for a new era, the name "Onshukai" was chosen by taking the character "寿" from "Kotobuki Nakama" (the Kotobuki group), thus restarting the Onshukai. The performance is only offered 7 days from 2026/11/12-18!

Schedule: 120 minutes performance will be held daily at 16:00 between 2026/11/12-18.
- The venue opens approximately 30 min. before the performance starts.
Eligibility:
- All participants must be 7 years old or older.
- This is ticket only, not a tour.
- Drinking alcohol during the show is not allowed.
- Please note that bringing large luggage to the theater.
- Theater do not have parking facilities available. We recommend using public transportation.
