- Yokote's Kamakura: Kamakura is a winter tradition in Akita with approximately 450 years of history, celebrated as a New Year's event to honor the water god. Every mid-February during the Snow Festival, about 100 large Kamakura (approx. 3m tall) and 2,000 mini Kamakura are built. Candles lit at night create a truly mystical space.
