Each performance consists of approximately eight scenes, each depicting an aspect of Japanese life, especially that of Kyoto and the geisha quarter. ※In Kyoto, women who perform traditional arts are called geiko, not geisha as is commonly known. A woman in training before becoming a geiko is called a maiko.
