A once-in-a-lifetime view—brilliantly curved snow walls rising before your eyes!
Walkers cheer in awe as towering walls of snow loom just ahead.
Tateyama Kurobe Snow Corridor Festival
- When spring arrives at the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, the world-famous Snow Corridor (Yuki-no-Otani) takes center stage. Created by clearing snow from roads around Murodo Terminal, this spectacular stretch of continuous snow walls extends for approximately 500 meters and is known as the Snow Corridor.
Snow Corridor Walk
- Appearing in Murodo-daira, one of the heaviest snowfall areas in the world, the Snow Corridor features massive snow walls reaching up to nearly 20 meters in height.
- The Snow Corridor Walk allows visitors to walk directly between these towering walls, experiencing their overwhelming scale up close. Enjoy iconic spring scenery of Tateyama Kurobe, with striking contrasts between deep blue skies and pure white snowfields.
Panorama Road
Event Dates: April 15 - May 6
※Not available for tour participants after 7th May
- Available only from mid-April to early May, this snow-covered promenade offers sweeping views of the Tateyama mountain range.
- Visible only for a short period before the snow melts, Panorama Road provides a rare and breathtaking vantage point—do not miss this limited-time spectacle.
Snow Passage
- This passageway is formed by clearing snow along the route connecting the rooftop of Murodo Terminal and the Tateyama Nature Conservation Center.
- Typically reaching over 8 meters in height around April, the snow walls here deliver an impressive experience comparable to the Snow Corridor itself.
Daikanbo Area
- Located next to Murodo Station, Daikanbo Station’s rooftop observatory offers sweeping panoramic views of Kurobe Lake and the Ushiro-Tateyama mountain range. During the event period, a giant snow dome known as the “Snow Pocket” appears.
Note: Information is based on the 2025 season. Details for the 2026 season will be updated once confirmed.
Japan’s Longest Single-Span Ropeway
- The Tateyama Ropeway connects Daikanbo and Kurobedaira with no supporting pillars in between, designed to preserve both scenery and the natural environment. Often described as a “moving observatory,” it offers breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views. Through its wide windows, enjoy dramatic slopes of Daikanbo to the west and the Ushiro-Tateyama mountain range to the east.
Kurobe Dam – A Truly Impressive Scale
- One of Japan’s largest structures, Kurobe Dam stands at an impressive height of 186 meters, the tallest in Japan. During this season, before the start of the summer water discharge, the area is less crowded, allowing visitors to enjoy the lingering snow and serene scenery at a relaxed pace.
UNESCO World Heritage Shirakawa-go Gassho-zukuri village
- The UNESCO World Heritage village of Shirakawa-go is home to 114 traditional gassho-zukuri houses with steep thatched roofs, standing amid fields and farmland. Its simple yet beautiful scenery is often described as the “original landscape of Japan,” captivating visitors from around the world.
- Enjoy a relaxing stroll through this timeless setting while being soothed by its nostalgic rural charm.
Stroll through the atmospheric old town of Takayama, rich in traditional charm
- Takayama’s Old Town is a well-preserved Edo-period district once known as a castle and merchant town. With its lattice-fronted houses, clear waterways, and traditional sake breweries, the area offers a nostalgic atmosphere that feels like a step back in time.
Stay overnight at Toyama Manten Hotel
- Located a 10-minute walk from JR / Ainokaze Toyama Railway Toyama Station, conveniently situated near the city center and entertainment district.
- Baths: Enjoy a panoramic large public bath overlooking the Tateyama mountain range (open-air bath and sauna available for men). Women can use the large public bath and a women-only stone spa (additional fee).
- Meals: Breakfast features a “home-style Hokuriku” theme, offering a choice of Japanese or Western set meals, along with small dishes of local specialties, salads, and desserts.
