The Experience

Sumo Tournament Daily Schedule

After receiving your ticket around 12:45 PM, you can enter Ryogoku Kokugikan and enjoy sumo matches throughout the afternoon. The most exciting bouts—the top division matches and the dramatic “Makuuchi Dohyo-iri” ring-entering ceremony—start around 3:40 PM and continue until the tournament ends at about 6:00 PM.

You may leave and re-enter the venue once, so feel free to take a break if needed. Don’t miss the thrilling climax in the late afternoon when the top-ranked wrestlers compete!

Things to Enjoy Inside Ryogoku Kokugikan

There’s much more to experience inside Ryogoku Kokugikan beyond the matches themselves! Visit the Sumo Museum to learn about the sport’s rich history and traditions. Browse souvenir shops for exclusive sumo goods and unique gifts. Discover various displays and photo spots throughout the venue to capture memorable moments. Bento lunch boxes, snacks, and drinks are also available at concession stands, so you can relax and enjoy your sumo experience to the fullest.
