Daisetsuzan National Park:
(Asahidake (230000 hectares) is located in the center of Hokkaido and is a mountain national park with a 50 km-long chain of 2,000-meter-high mountains, led by Asahidake, the highest peak in Hokkaido at 2,291 meters above sea level. Asahidake ropeway is a ropeway connecting Asahidake at an elevation of 1,100 m (Sanroku Station) to Sugatami Station at an elevation of 1,600 m. This course takes you to the Sugatami Pond and the surrounding flower garden in the sky at an elevation of 1,670 m. The ropeway is operated by the Asahidake Ropeway Company.
From mid-September, the leaves begin to change color and a carpet of red autumn leaves awaits you.
From the ropeway's summit station, “Sugatami Station,” visitors can explore the area amidst a variety of alpine flora and fauna until they reach “Sugatami no Ike” (Sugatami Pond). The course is about 1.7 km (1.7 km round trip).
The Sugatami Pond is an emerald green pond with a diameter of 50 m and a circumference of 400 m. It is named for the reflection of Mt. Asahidake ropeway restaurant Sugatami, where you will have lunch using local ingredients.
The ropeway station is only a 3-minute walk from the hotel, so after lunch, you can board the ropeway and enjoy a full view of the flower garden in the sky.
