Enjoy "Nagara River Cormorant Fishing," a summer tradition in Gifu boasting over 1,300 years of history! In the pitch darkness, the flickering bonfire lights up the water, as the lively calls of the master fisherman (Ukai) and the rhythmic beating of the boat sides echo across the night river.
Experience a magical moment watching up close the timeless art that captivated historical figures like Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu, as well as Charlie Chaplin. The master's skillful handling of the lines in perfect harmony with the cormorant birds is a true traditional art form.
