Experience snowshoe trekking in the pristine winter landscape at the foothills of Shirakami-Sanchi, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. This beginner-friendly course takes place close to local villages, making it easy to enjoy trekking through deep, fluffy snow while surrounded by magnificent nature. You can even try a fun snow dive for great photo opportunities.
The tour is open to participants aged 6 and above, making it perfect for families looking to create winter memories together. Walk slowly through the snowy forest on snowshoes and feel the quiet power of nature. Your guide is Eisakumi Saito, a legendary local forest professional who was born and raised in the Shirakami area and knows the mountains intimately. Clear instructions are provided, so even first-time snowshoe users can join with confidence. If you’re lucky, you may spot animal footprints along the way.
The experience includes round-trip transportation from JR Futatsui Station, with optional pickup from accommodations in Fujisato Town. After trekking, warm up with a cup of freshly brewed coffee made using Shirakami’s pure spring water—a special moment unique to winter in this region.
