This beginner-friendly program includes a live performance by a professional dancer wearing a beautiful kimono, followed by a gentle workshop where you can try graceful movements using a folding fan. No need to wear a kimono — just bring your curiosity!
– What Is Nihon Buyo? Nihon Buyo is a refined form of Japanese classical dance that originated in the Edo period. It tells stories through slow, controlled movements and elegant gestures — often described as “art through the body.” Each motion expresses emotion, narrative, and traditional aesthetics unique to Japan.
– Performance Highlight: The White Makeup Tradition At the climax of the show, the dancer appears wearing shironuri, the white stage makeup used in traditional Japanese theater and dance. This style has been passed down for generations and adds an extra layer of beauty and authenticity to the performance.
