During the Lunch Session, the executive chef of Kyoto Kitcho Arashiyama Head Restaurant will give you an interesting talk regarding Japanese cuisine, Shokado Bento, and the godfather of Shokado Bento. (Lunch session only)
Admission fee to Shokado Garden and Art Museum is included so you can enjoy the Japanese culture and garden to the fullest!
A special exhibition, "Arts and Crafts of the Kaga Domain and Shokado Shojo - Chanoyu, Kaiseki, and the Spirit of Hospitality," will also be held during this period at the Shokado Garden Art Museum! You can also learn more about the inventor and development of the Shokado lunch box!
The Experience
Shokado Bento originated in the Edo period (late 17th century) and is named after a tea house called Shokado in Kyoto. Shokado Bento features a wide range of seasonal ingredients, allowing for diverse flavors and textures. More than just a meal, Shokado Bento reflects Japanese culture and tradition. It is often served during ceremonies and celebrations, adding a sense of occasion.
