The Experience
Kawadoko; known as a riverside terrace dining, is a wonderful way to enjoy the cool breeze by the river during the scorching hot summer in Kyoto. People in Kyoto has enjoyed the summer at the kawadoko for many decades. Here at the ryokan Momijiya which was established more than 100 years ago, the architecture alone will give you the nostalgic feel that you cannot feel anywhere else. You will feel like you have time travel to the past.
To maximize your exerience, lets change into a Yukata, a summer kimono. Men, women and children sizes are available.
Enjoy approximately 2 hour dining experience of beautiful and delicious Japanese cuisine using seasonal ingredients.
On selective days, you may enjoy Kyoto dance performance by Maiko. Rare experience of conversation and photo time with Maiko is available.
Performances are available on Friday through Sunday, Holiday, and 8/10-16.
You may still enjoy Kawadoko dining experience on other days without Maiko performance.

Itinerary

- 15:30Arrive at Mimosa Kimono Rental Shop for dressing of yukata.
- 16:45Shuttle bus pick up from Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo. Please note that this bus will make multiple pickups from arriving the Momijiya.
- 18:15Arrive at the Momijiya. Please enjoy 2 hours of delicious Japanese cuisine. On selective days, lightning bug viewing, or Maiko performance is available.
- 20:20Depart from Momijiya. Return to Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo around 21:00.
How to Use
- Voucher will be sent via email. Please show your e-voucher at designated location.
Purchase Notice
- The shuttle bus will not wait for the late comers. Please be punctual.
- Shuttle bus will make a multiple hotel stops to and from Momijiya.
- This is not a private dining experience, you will enjoy with the other guests.
- For those who have any food allergies, please leave a note on a remark.
- Food will be served 2 to 3 times in a compact format.
- Groups will have their own separate space. But this is not a reserved floor.
- Lightning Bug viewing is available only on Monday through Thursday.
- Maiko performance is avaiable only on Friday through Sunday, Holiday and 8/10-16 only.
- Talking and drinking with the Maiko may be canceled.
- It may be chilly depending on the season.
- There is a step up to the Kawadoko seat.
- This facility is not a wheelchair accessible.
