The Experience
Daimon zaka is an impressive cobblestone staircase slope which runs from the base of the valley to Kumano Nachi Taisha, Seiganto ji Temple and Nachi waterfall.
It is lined with centuries old Japanese cedars, cypress, camphor trees and bamboo groves. Daimon zaka means large gate slope referring to a gate that once stood nearby. This is an excellent short walk on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route.
The actual stone staircase is about 600 meters long with 267 stairs. At the base of the slope is the impressive Meitosugi, husband and wife cedar trees whose roots are entwined beneath the path. Close by is the Daimon zaka chaya where you can rent Heian period kimonos, great for some memorial photos. Near the top of the slope you can catch your first glimpse of the awe inspiring Nachi falls.
At the top of Daimon zaka, you can continue upstairs another 20 minutes to the shrine complex area and visit Kumano Nachi Taisha, Seiganto-ji Temple. It is probably best to climb the stairs to the shrine grounds first, and then walk down beside the pagoda to the falls.
There are some souvenir shops along the way and some small restaurants at the top.

- This is a private tour. Only your group will participate.
- You can customize it as you like. If you have any requests please let us know in advance.
- If you want to change your schedule even on the tour day, your guide is always happy to help you.
- You can skip the spot where you don't go (※in this case we do not refund any fees) or change it with another place.
- If you add some new spots by your request, please pay the ticket fee on the spot. (Note that you may need to pay extra transportation fee)
- Public transportation will be used during the tour. Please note that, excluding the limited express train, seating is not guaranteed. Also, customers cannot join bringing suitcases.
- Luggage delivery service is not available.
- The Kumano Kodo walk may be canceled at the location due to inclement weather, unavoidable circumstances, or other reasons. Please note that in this case, refunds will not be provided. -Infants (under 2 years old) can join tour but must sit on laps

- Wearing your seatbelt is mandatory while the bus is in motion due to legal regulations.

- Please refrain from standing up while the vehicle is in motion.
- If you accidentally leave any belongings on the vehicle, please be aware that they will be disposed of.
